چکیده

Nowadays, raw earth construction is an area of growing interest, both for its eco-friendly characteristics and very interesting thermo-hygroscopic properties. Nevertheless, this type exhibits a weakness related to cracking due the shrinkage strains caused by desiccation. In context, paper presents experimental study restrained drying-shrinkage, carried out on fine clayey soil. Several amounts soil reinforcement with orderly layout patterns using vegetal flax fibers have been investigated in order enhance The new feature work analyzing crack initiation propagation coupling Digital Image Correlation (DIC) method Clay-Ring-Test (CRT) technique, innovative device called DIC-CRT. Suction measurements clay samples are performed during desiccation tensiometers. A good agreement noticed between suction strain evolution until revealing direct influence shrinkage. Through two techniques, DIC CRT, relevant parameter quantify intensity materials proposed. significant decrease ratio, factor about 8, highlights impact level opening. Likewise, decrease, 20, observed analysis CRT slopes, highlighting kinetic

Overview of Flax Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic Composites

Flax fibres are oftenly used for reinforcing thermoplastic to manufacture biocomposite materials exhibiting numerous advantages such as high mechanical properties, low density and biodegradability. The mechanical properties of a biocomposite material depends on the nature and orientation of the fibres, the nature of the matrix and mainly on the adhesion between fiber and the polymer matrix. The...

Shear crack formation and propagation in fiber reinforced cementitious composites (FRCC)

Knowledge of the mechanisms controlling crack formation, propagation and failure of FRCC under shear loading is currently limited. This paper presents a study that utilized photogrammetry to monitor the shear deformations of two FRCC materials and ordinary concrete (OC). Multiple shear cracks and strain hardening of both FRCC materials was observed under shear loading. The influence of fibers, ...

Modeling dynamic crack propagation in fiber reinforced composites including frictional effects

Dynamic crack propagation in a unidirectional carbon/epoxy composite is studied through finite element analyses of asymmetric impact (shear loading) of a rod against a rectangular plate. A finite deformation anisotropic visco-plastic model is used to describe the constitutive response of the composite. Crack propagation is simulated by embedding zero thickness interface element along the crack ...

Torsional Waves in Prestressed Fiber Reinforced Medium Subjected to Magnetic Field

The propagation of torsional waves in a prestressed fiber-reinforced half-space under the effect of magnetic field and gravity has been discussed. The problem has been solved analytically using Whittaker function to obtain the exact solution frequency equations. Numerical results for stress, gravity and magnetic field are given and illustrated graphically. Comparisons are made with the results ...

An Acoustic Emission Study of Flax Fiber-Reinforced Polypropylene Composites

Sensitivity to crack propagation in flax fiber-reinforced polypropylene (PP) composites has been examined on SEN-T specimens. The sound waves that arise due to loading have been investigated with the acoustic emission method. Linear functional relationship has been revealed between the number of acoustic events that occur during loading and the fracture toughness. It has also been observed that...
